Gothenburg, situated at the mouth of the river Göta, is one of Sweden’s most historical cities entrenched with a rich maritime history of trade and exportation. The largest sea port in the Nordic countries, Gothenburg once acted as an important gateway to Western Europe in the 17th century. Today it is a vibrant city and a growing tourist destination. To celebrate the city’s heritage, representatives invited MK Illumination to decorate Gothenburg during the winter months with a scheme that reflected the city’s culture and long established Nordic tradition.
MK Illumination developed a new bespoke “Nordic” product family to reflect both the character and history of the city. Countless LED lights in brilliant white and warm-white were incorporated into the street decorations and street lights which adorned the city’s squares, lanes and streets.
